On October 2-7, 2023, the XVI International Scientific and Practical Conference "Ukrainian School of Mining Engineering" was held in Skhidnytsia (Ukraine). The conference was attended by more than 200 specialists from Ukraine and abroad, representing scientific institutions, mining companies, joint stock companies and institutes.
The conference was aimed at discussing topical issues of mining industry development, sharing best practices and establishing cooperation between scientists and practitioners.
Key issues discussed at the conference:
- Underground mining of mineral deposits ;
- Mechanical engineering for the mining industry;
- Mineral processing;
- Energy efficiency and ecology of mining production;
- Labor safety in the mining industry.
It is recommended that mining enterprises and organizations implement new scientific and technical developments, such as:
- Technology of waste-free desalination of mine waters with obtaining salt-containing dry substances;
- Technology of injection fixing of fractured rocks;
- Technology for filling voids and building bridges with WEBER foams;
- Digital technologies for improving the energy efficiency of Elsta Electronica mechanized cleaning complexes;
- Machine learning methods for predicting the occurrence of coal seams and estimating mineral reserves;
- VR technologies for training and professional development of employees at mining enterprises;
- Modern tunneling machines RH 110, RH 160, RH 220 manufactured by Corum Druzhkovka Machine-Building Plant LLC, Ukraine;
- Alternative schemes for the removal of fine sludge from the circulating systems of concentration plants;
- Recommendations to ensure the reuse of mine workings;
- To approve the technological standards of the Dneprovskoye Mining Division for the support of mine workings;
- Implementation of integrated extraction and processing of mineral raw materials from coal mines to promote the development of coal mining regions and create new industrial clusters.

The XVI International Scientific and Practical Conference "Ukrainian School of Mining Engineering" was a significant event in the development of the mining industry of Ukraine.
